Does Outflow require linking my bank account?
No — never. Outflow is built on the principle that you should never need to hand over bank credentials to understand your own spending. Add subscriptions by pasting a receipt, importing a PDF, picking from the built-in service catalog, or typing manually. Nothing is ever pulled from a bank, Plaid, or any other financial data provider.
Is Outflow itself a subscription?
No. Outflow is free to download and free for up to 5 subscriptions. Pro is a single one-time purchase — currently $4.99. There is no monthly fee, no annual renewal, and no upsell. It would be pretty odd to charge a recurring subscription for an app whose whole purpose is to help you spot them.
What is Smart Paste and how does it work?
Smart Paste uses Apple Foundation Models — the on-device AI built into modern iOS — to read a pasted receipt, email confirmation, or imported PDF, then automatically fill in the subscription name, price, billing cycle, and renewal date. All inference runs on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to any external cloud API or server. It works even in Airplane Mode.
Does any of my financial data ever leave my iPhone?
Never. Outflow has no backend server, no analytics SDK, and no account system. Every subscription, amount, and date is stored locally on your device in SwiftData. The App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected" — the highest privacy designation Apple offers, and one very few finance apps can honestly claim.
Is Outflow a good Bobby app alternative?
Yes. Outflow is built for users who loved Bobby's private, manual approach but want a modern replacement. It keeps the same local-only philosophy and adds everything Bobby lacked: on-device AI for auto-fill, App Intents for Siri, renewal reminders, price-change tracking, custom colours, and a design built for current iOS. Unlike Bobby, Outflow is actively maintained and updated regularly.
How is Outflow different from Rocket Money?
Rocket Money (formerly Truebill) requires you to connect your bank account via Plaid and charges $6–$12 per month. Outflow requires no bank account connection, stores nothing off your device, and costs either nothing (free tier) or a one-time $4.99 for Pro. If privacy, cost, or bank-linking is a concern, Outflow is the alternative.
Does Outflow work on iPad and Mac?
Yes. Outflow runs on iPhone and iPad (iOS/iPadOS 26.0 or later, optimised for iOS 27) with a proper big-screen sidebar layout — and it installs from the App Store on any Apple silicon Mac. Optional iCloud Backup, stored in your own iCloud, keeps your data with you across devices.
Can Outflow skip a payment, like a HelloFresh free week?
Yes. Open the subscription and tap “Skip next payment” — for a free week, a trial period, or a delivery you've paused. The renewal date steps over the skipped payment, no reminder fires for it, it disappears from the payment calendar, and your monthly and yearly totals drop until the skipped date passes. One tap to un-skip if you change your mind.
Does Outflow have widgets?

Yes. Outflow tracks any recurring cost — streaming services, gym memberships, insurance, software licences, rent, utilities, internet, and more. Weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly billing cycles are all supported. You see your total monthly and yearly outgoings across everything.
